FAQs
What is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy (RLT), also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of light (typically 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared) to stimulate your cells' "power plants," the mitochondria. This boost in energy helps your body repair skin, reduce inflammation, and recover from workouts more efficiently.
How long does it take to see results?
Consistency is the secret to success! While some users notice an immediate "glow" due to increased circulation, most significant benefits like reduced fine lines or muscle recovery typically appear after 2 to 6 weeks of regular use.
How often should I use my Luminate Care device?
We generally recommend 3 to 5 sessions per week, with each session lasting between 5 and 20 minutes per treatment area.
Can I overdo it?
Yes. Red light therapy follows a "biphasic dose response," meaning that once you hit the optimal dose, doing more can actually decrease the benefits. Stick to the recommended times for the best results.
Should my skin be bare?
For maximum effectiveness, the light needs a clear path to your skin. We recommend using your device on clean, bare skin free of heavy lotions, sunscreens, or makeup, as these can reflect or block the light.
Can I use my favorite serums with red light?
Yes! Water-based serums like Hyaluronic Acid can actually enhance light penetration. However, avoid "photo-sensitive" products like Retinol or harsh acids immediately before your session, as they may cause irritation. Apply those after your treatment.
Is it safe to use if I’ve had Botox or Fillers?
Generally, yes. Red light can actually help reduce post-injection swelling and bruising. We suggest waiting 24 to 48 hours after your procedure to allow the injectables to settle before starting your light sessions.
How do I clean my Luminate Care tool?
Simply wipe down the device with a soft, damp cloth or a gentle alcohol-free wipe after each use to prevent the buildup of oils or bacteria. Avoid submerging the device in water.
My device is getting warm. Is this normal?
It is normal for the LEDs to generate a mild amount of warmth during a 20-minute session. However, if the device feels uncomfortably hot to the touch, turn it off immediately and allow it to cool before next use.
